I will always have this game on any of my computers and even have the Palm version on my phone. This game is infinitely re-playable. worth every penny. I would recomend finding a good version on CD so you don't have to buy it again if you get a new system or hard drive crash. oh yeah, the game file? less than 6mb! >^..^ I first played Spaceward Ho! ver 3 windows port when 386 dx computers and windows 3.11 were hot machines.

To some extent, SH is more "pure" because it has fewer bells and whistles. When I'm playing Advance Wars, I don't find myself longing for the Panzer General system of "prestige points". I think the one thing that Spaceward Ho! is missing is a certain level of detail in the mise-en-scene. When you learn a new technology in Galactic Empire and Master of Orion for example, both give you little screens with pictures and diagrams explaining exactly how they are going to affect combat, and show you where the tech tree is going, and so on. In Ho! you just get a bigger number and a silly name. I could see someone who values the fantasy or immersion value of this type of game yearning for the level of detail the other games provide. Does the game's simplicity effect it's replayability? I haven’t played Spaceward Ho! but the comparison with Advance Wars is compelling … that’s one of my favourite strategy games.

Does the game’s simplicity effect it’s replayability?
