My experience was exactly the same as psu’s. I think you said everything
I wanted to say.

In the endgame, I eventually picked up a book. I looked up at the
screen every few minutes when I reached the button-pushing spot. I’d
fail almost instantly, press retry, and go back to my book. After
twelve or fifteen tries I got it right. I really wished a designer was
there to watch me.

(It was a screaming argument for “loosen the timing requirements by
30ms after each failure.” You don’t have to advertise it. I swear
nobody would have noticed; it would just have been more fun.)

So, I bought God of War II and Puzzle Quest on the same day. I really hope to get to God of War II at some point.

If you think the save points are too far apart, try playing the game without a memory card I borrowed a PS2 from my buddy that gave up video games for Lent, but no memory card. So the game stayed on for 3 days while I did things like sleep and go to work. The game was a LOT of fun though. Though I did want to kill myself after the 30th time watching the second to last cutscene (finale battle). I am absolutely terrible at minigames anyway, so that was just torture.

I’m looking forward to GoW3. Hopefully they won’t go nuts and try to release it on the PS3.
