One in particular I really wished I made myself was that the programmers behind these apps deserve our <i>full</i> support. I don't know if you know about Coding Horror, a popular blog by a windows programmer, which suggested a "Support Your Favorite Small Software Vendor Day" ( http://www.codinghorror.com/blog/archives/000735.html ). It's a particular issue on Windows where we have a glut of shareware / small business apps of wildly variable quality as opposed to the Mac world which typically has fewer, better, apps. Either way, his point applies to all platforms and to what we're talking about here. I'm proud to have donated to Paint.net, purchased WinRAR and other apps on Windows. I'm proud to have done the same for Overflow, XSlimmer and Unison among others on the Mac. There's something to be said in selecting a few quality apps that make a difference to you, supporting them properly and encouraging their developers to keep going. Something that gets lost when you buy a grab-bag full of dozens of cut-price apps and only run half of them once. You make some good points here Peter.
