Specifically he worked on WoW "painting textures for 3D models in the dwarven city". As I recall, there were well over a hundred artists working on that game. He did that for two years. The game had been in development for two years prior to that. It was almost a year and a half after he quit that they released the game. That's nearly a 6-year development cycle. It's no real wonder that Blizzard games are better than everyone else's, and further that other game companies aren't willing to make a similar investment in games. Luckily, most of the Mac development "is free" when 90% of the game is graphic work, and the PC gamers effectively pay for all the graphic work. My cousin worked for Blizzard. You're safe. It would run but poorly enough so that it's not really much fun. “I think WoW would even run on my crappy Macbook with no real graphics card, for example.”

The older Intel chips and ATI chips were immune. Newer Intel chips and Nvidia chips were broken. The symptom is that the game crashes on startup. For the record:

It does work on my older Intel iMac, fortunately. Very addictive game. Diablo 2 doesn’t run on my Macbook (Penrynn C2D 2.4Ghz 10.5.4), it just crashes on startup. However, Starcraft and the expansion package are excellent. I'm looking forward to Starcraft II. Unfortunately, Warcraft III doesn’t live up to the standards of the games Blizzard usually produces. I'd just bittorrented Diablo 2 after seeing the Diablo 3 trailer (which looks spectacular btw). Now I know it's easy to find and download, cheap, and doesn't involve stupid draconian DRM (the three reasons I chose to bittorrent rather than try to hunt down a CD), I'm going to delete the torrent, pay for it, and download it legally. Must be a lesson there. Heh. I’d just bittorrented Diablo 2 after seeing the Diablo 3 trailer (which looks spectacular btw).
