I'm not sure if that's a counter-argument to your line of reasoning, it may not be; perhaps it might fairly be said that I can't judge it, having not read it myself. But it's something to think on, perhaps. I'd say I've heard enough about it (and its author) to form enough of an opinion about it. Are they somehow related to "newspaper" things that I've heard about? Does it run on a Mac? What are these “book” things you speak of? While I realize that the main critics of that book (whose criticisms I have read) do appear to have actually read the book, they do seem to conveniently ignore the fact that Card discusses some of the very moral issues they address in the book(s) themselves. I won't defend Card wholesale (his published views on gay marriage, for example, I find reprehensible), but some of the arguments about "Ender's Game" have seemed to me to be disingenuous.
