Purely for the trivia, I’m pretty sure that “The people united” chant is a translation from Spanish, where at least the cadence is better, and it rhymes to boot:

¡El pueblo… unido… jamas será vencido!

This of course does nothing to change its correctness, or lack thereof.

The only problem is that this *IS* Pittsburgh–where university professors, philosophy grad students, engineer nerds, yoga teachers (no lie, we had black & gold yoga days), anarchists, and VEGETARIANS are football fans.

(The story about the guy on the GG bridge made me tear up, b/c it’s spot on.)
