Here they are dingy and small, full of older books and not too many patrons. But everyone in this country reads--on trains, standing in bookstores and convenience stores, while waiting for friends. I guess they all buy their books 'cause they always have these nifty paper bookcovers on them to promote the shop and obscure the title.
