I was particularly disappointed with the EVF on a Leica Digilux 2 bought a few years ago. You mention the Epson RD-1 which I decided to invest in a few months ago, and I have to say I'm over the moon with it. It handles really well and takes some great pictures with a whole range of lenses - very sharp with great colours and great tonality on black and white shots. Having been spoilt with fully automatic cameras, getting accustomed to a manual took a month or so (particularly having to estimate distance with none-rangefinder coupled wide-angle lense. But (admittedly having taken many duff pictures), with a bit of practice I now feel comfortable with it. The price is the definately the main issue, but I picked mine up on Ebay, in perfect condition at a reasonable price - and I suspect the fact that the M8 is on the market (and a RD-2 is rumoured to on the horizon), prices should drop even more. Did you make the leap to the M8? If so, would love to know what you think of it. Bill Hi
