Whoy do you think so? Not that I disagree, but I am simply curious. I quite enjoyed the game, but haven't even played the Medieval TW2. As for miniatures, well, I used to play miniature wargames for years but now my limited time doesn't allow me to give the hobby all the time it deserves. But still I find it enjoyable to play a game when it is possiblr (which means: rarely). So you say that Total War battles are silly? Whoy do you think so?

FoG hasn't dominated completely yet and at first sight the digital version appears hobbled rather than being the real expansion to something like the battles in the Total War series but without their siliness DBM was around in several versions for a decade or more and was the dominant historical miniatures rules for the ancient period succeeding the Wargames Research Group rules (7 major versions) which were basically the only ancient rules from the early 70′s onwards.

DBA is played with 12 elements per side and games are normally 10-20 minutes long. DBMM on the other hand I haven't tried but did play lots of DBM prior to FoG being published. DBM was comparable in complexity to FoG. DBMM seems to be somewhat more complex than DBM but not really impossible to play, just not much audience in the US so far.
