Pittsburgh Apple Store Photos

On August 27, 2004, in Places, by peterb

As promised, here are some photos of the soon-to-open Pittsburgh (Shadyside) Apple Store. I concur with the opinion that it doesn’t look anywhere near close to done, but then my experience in constructing anything other than computer programs is severely limited. Perhaps Steve will visit. We could have coffee at the relaxing and sociable café, Jitterz, across the street, and down one block.

Here’s the exterior (click to enlarge) which still has quite a ways to go:

The interior looks mostly finished, though. One of the construction workers mentioned that they’re hiring:

The target date is allegedly September 4th. I’ll be out of town that weekend. My wallet thanks me.

Note to Mac fan and news sites: please feel free to link to this article. As a courtesy, I ask that you do not link directly to the photos. Thanks.

I have been jogging past this construction site three times a week since May and can’t understand why you think it’s not close to being finished! They’ve clearly ramped up efforts in the past month to meet the deadline. At this stage, they’re making incredible progress every day!

Jogged past tonight (Thu, Sep 2nd) and it looks ready to open right now! Lights are all on, merch on display everywhere (no 30″ Cinema Display that I could see!), plasma displays in the back. The only things that look unfinished are the Apple logo above the front door and the area outside around the entrance.
