I have been working towards the end of Shadow of the Colossus the last few days.
Strangely, at the beginning of last week, my knee became sore for no reason. I went to see the doctor, who gave me some pills, and the pills made it better. Until last night whe, suddenly, the knee flared up again.
So here is the only thing I can trace it to: both flareups corresponded to particularly long bouts with a colossus.
I can only conclude that I have a video game injury, which is pathetic, and an indication that truly, I am old. Hopefully I can finish this game tonight and heal up over the weekend.
I’ve had the odd knee soreness flare up on both legs after playing Ratchet and Clank for hours on end, sitting cross-legged on the couch. One friend suggests taking up smoking so you actually get up and move about every time one addiction supercedes another.
I usually sit staight legged or stand when playing games… in this case I think standing might have done me in.
The pain is also sort of more in my shin than in my knee. It’s like the tendon that runs up and down between the ankle and knee. Very odd.
Happily, I finished the game last night, so I can take a few days off.
I heard about this advertising scheme on a another blog, that gives away free computers. It sounded like a scam, but after I googled it, it was legitmiate. You have to sign up for an offer from one the sponser companies. I did the free credit report one and canceled before the free trial time was up. Here’s the link, check it out.

On topic, I have occasionally suffered from “Coder’s Ankle”, resulting from long bouts of coding with my feet wrapped ungracefully around the base of an expensively ergonomic Aeron chair.
We used to get spam all the time, but this might be the first (or maybe second) time a spammer bothered to try to bypass the captcha code by hand.
I feel all tingly. Oh wait, that was just gas.
The knee problem sounds like the flexor muscle over your shin that is used to lift your foot to the 90 degree position… So, perhaps it’s just a sore muscle and not anything too tough. Were you perhaps standing and leaning back some which your body would want to correct by lifting your toes/foot-angle to cause you to rock forward? (or maybe just rocking would be enough?)
Whatever, OLD MAN.
I was waiting for the punch line on this, such as “I kept hitting my knee in disgust every time the dry lake collusus knocked me off my horse!”
