Watching the Election on the Web

On November 4, 2008, in Culture, by peterb

I have no broadcast TV antenna in my house. I have no cable. I have no satellite feed.

So for me, the most fascinating part of this year’s election is that I am able to choose from among multiple professional webcasts of election coverage to watch, live. I have ended up going with the BBC coverage as the most interesting. Tip of the hat to Cynthia Closkey for the recommendation.

My wife swears by the BBC for all sorts of information coverage. The US should really consider funding an independent broadcasting company (instead of forcing NPR to telethon its listeners to death) – it forces all news services to reach for higher standards when they have a free voice to compete against.

    Happy new president! :)
