Coraline

Stop what you’re doing and go see it right now.

Seriously. It’s that good.

You probably want to watch that instead of A Lonely Cow Weeps at Dawn:

Did you see it in 3D or 2D?

  2. Mike Collins says:

Coraline was great; better than Martial X:LV.

I saw it in 2D. I heard the 3D was annoying, but then Nat said it was good, so maybe I’ll go see it again.

@peterb – It’s actually the least annoying 3D movie I’ve ever seen. There were no gimmicky “Look at us wave this giant spear/pickle/phallus in your face” scenes, it just was a nice extra touch.

I don’t know if the technology has actually gotten better, or it was just done well enough that my brain wasn’t trying to reconcile conflicting information all night, but I also had much less of a headache than I usually do after watching a 3D movie.

    I did like the 3D a lot

I think it’s a mix of the technology getting way better (they’re using this crazy circular-polarization thing with a single projector running at 72fps instead of the dual-projector thing they used to do), combined with the movie not trying too hard for gimmicky reach-into-the-audience stuff.

On the other hand, Laura didn’t like the 3D as much — she had trouble focusing a bit and it made her feel vaguely unwell by the end.

A Lonely Cow – please tell me this isn’t the inspiration for you clotted cream adventures. Also, not on netflix. I’m disheartened beyond words.
